London multi-instrumentalist & producer Benbo originally dropped 'Nurvel Durd' as a video-only Christmas surprise – it’s now getting a full release on PKLZD.
Devoid of vocals and not intended for his forthcoming début album, the video, by Michael McDuffie, Adam Clements and Emmett Ives, features a live human man falling through a hedge into an animated world. Already hailed as ‘amazingly surreal’ by The Sunday Experience’s Mark Barton and 'sick' by Amazing Radio's Frank McWeeny, it matches the unpredictably springy music, which is accompanied here by an as-yet-unheard 'Boring Version' and a 'Destroy All Intersample Peaks Remaster' for anyone listening "on really really expensive hi-fi."
Last year Benbo launched his first EP, saw ‘If You Feel Emotional' knock Foals off the #1 spot on Indie Shuffle’s Alternative chart, and swept plaudits from London to Bavaria, Melbourne and Cape Town for co-producing Pablo’s ‘Feels Like’, a future jazz/bass/techno/soul Gilles Peterson premiere that became an official Record Store Day Exclusive.
For 2016 he is currently finalising his début album, which is published by Cooking Vinyl, and publishing a new drawing every day at
benbo.ninja. There will also be new collaborations with other unique independent artists including Neotropic (R&S/Ninja Tune) and Mother Cyborg (Dirt Tech Reck/House of Cyborg).
